The UNICEF Startup Lab aims to provide young people in Ghana an innovative space to define problems, explore solutions, and build their personal and professional networks. While enrollment in the Startup Lab Incubator is invite-only, all community events are open to the public. Please see additional details regarding UNICEF’s free community events below.
Master Classes
Once per month, the UNICEF Startup Lab will offer a Master Class on relevant, cutting-edge topics (such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, or UX design strategy). Each Master Class will last three hours and feature expert guest lectures paired with hands-on, interactive activities. Stay tuned for our first Master Class, launching in October 2019.
Resident Seminars
Ever wanted the inside scoop on how UNICEF effectively scales its work throughout Ghana, West Africa, and the world? Twice per quarter UNICEF staff and consultants will provide Resident Seminars, co-led with a member of the Startup Lab team, covering case studies, exploring lessons learned, and unveiling exciting tools used in UNICEF’s work. Stay tuned for our first Resident Seminar, launching in October 2019.
Hackathons
Sometimes the best way to explore a challenge is to build a potential solution. Once per quarter, the Startup Lab team will unveil a challenge area and invite young people from throughout Ghana to team up for a weekend-long hackathon event. Participants will receive glimpses of our incubation curriculum, practice developing their ideas, and pitch to a jury. Stay tuned to sign up for our first community hackathon, taking place in November 2019.
