EMPOWERING ENTREPRENEURS FOR SOCIAL IMPACT

UNICEF StartUp Lab is a dynamic six-month accelerator program dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs committed to creating positive social impact through technology-driven solutions. Led by UNICEF in Ghana, supported by KOICA, and implemented by MEST Africa, our program is at the forefront of driving innovation for sustainable development.

OUR UNIQUE APPROACH

At UNICEF StartUp Lab, we focus on resourcing and empowering tech-enabled social impact startups while amplifying their positive impact on children’s rights. We help startups refine their product, strengthen their business, scale, and engage in new opportunities for the same purpose. The pipeline of these startups eventually focuses on advancing UNICEF’s program-relevant systems gaps solutions and Digital Public Goods.

SCALING IMPACT AND EXPANDING REACH

The Startup Lab aims to scale startups to expand their reach, making them more impactful. We leverage innovative products/services across the program and disseminate them internationally within our extensive network, ensuring that our early stage startups contribute to positive change on a global scale.

CONNECTING WITH UNICEF PROGRAMMES

As a participant in the program, you will have the opportunity to connect with various UNICEF key programmes in the Country Office, including Health & Nuitrition, Education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and Social Protection. This collaboration allows startups to leverage UNICEF’s expertise and resources to address critical societal challenges.

OUR IMPACT

Since our launch in 2019, UNICEF StartUp Lab has made significant strides in supporting startups. We have assisted over 50 ventures in building their products, strengthening business operations and strategy, and fostering meaningful relationships with users, partners, and funders. Additionally, our program has played a pivotal role in the discovery and development of four Digital Public Goods in Ghana, further contributing to sustainable development.
